“Um. We’re gonna need a bigger pool,” was the statement repeated over and over again at the 3rd Annual Live Like Lou Swim a Thon on the warm morning of June 4th. Fifty-six swimmers including the masters from The Flying Fishheads, swimmers from all of the local clubs, and a few random (but mighty) pool rats convened at Community Swim Club to break personal records and fundraising records too… A total of 4,723 laps swum and more than $10,000 raised!! We were thrilled to see the youngest Demotte swim 75 kid laps, and the Smith kids out-swim their dad Dr. Ryan Smith (no small feat!), and warrior Diana Beasley smash her lap count from last year, and our nephew Jacob get in the pool despite his lingering headcold, and Libby Ernharth reach the adult record at 164 laps and Grace Gackenback reach the kid record of 148!. Can’t get over the energy of organizers Katie Kenyon, Scott Sterrett and Sia Beasley, and the generosity of our corporate donors and sponsors for the morning. And we were thrilled Dr. Chris Donnelly came out to talk about ALS research These are just a few of the stories from our very heart-warming event. Thank you for helping us to leave ALS better than we found it. You are the Very Best of the Very Best!
