Dr. Fields has dedicated his career to a deeply personal mission: restoring movement to individuals living with paralysis. Before medical school, he served as a firefighter captain, paramedic, and neural rehabilitation personal trainer, bearing witness to the devastating onset and scarce treatment options available for individuals living with neural disabilities. These experiences compelled Dr. Fields to pursue a career as a neurosurgeon-scientist where his clinical practice and research program utilize network-guided electrotherapeutics to restore movement for individuals with ischemic, traumatic, genetic, and degenerative neural disease.
Dr. Fields is a Staff Surgeon at the Malcolm Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida, and McKnight Brain Institute Scholar.
