Phi Delta Theta Chapters Champion the Fight Against ALS with Record-Setting Impact

The 2025–2026 academic year marked another outstanding chapter in Phi Delta Theta’s commitment to honoring Lou Gehrig’s legacy and supporting the ALS community through the Live Like Lou Foundation.

Live Like Lou introduced the Triple Crown Award in 2023 to recognize Phi Delta Theta chapters that support the Foundation’s mission to leave ALS better than we found it. Inspired by baseball legend and proud Phi Delt Lou Gehrig, the award mirrors one of the most challenging accomplishments in Major League Baseball—the batting Triple Crown. Only 14 players in history have achieved it, including Gehrig himself in 1934, when he led the league in batting average, home runs, and RBIs.

In Lou’s honor, the Triple Crown Award celebrates chapters that accomplish three extraordinary feats each year:

  1. Register to serve an ALS family through our Connect & Serve program
  2. Achieve Iron Phi Chapter status.
  3. Host a philanthropy event in their community to raise awareness and support for the fight against ALS, with proceeds benefiting the Live Like Lou Foundation.

The 2025-26 school year, brothers fraternity-wide showed up in a big way:

  • $392,166 was raised through Live Like Lou-focused philanthropy events hosted by Phi Delta Theta chapters across North America.
  • $894,345 was raised through the Iron Phi program, which supports both the Phi Delta Theta Foundation and Live Like Lou.

This year also saw 42 chapters earn the distinguished Triple Crown Chapter honor, an award recognizing those who served an ALS family through the Connect & Serve program, became recognized Iron Phi chapters, and hosted a philanthropy event and donated to the Live Like Lou Foundation.
