Last month in November, Live Like Lou was honored to join the 2025 Team Hilliard Golf Tournament, an event that continues to make a powerful impact for ALS families across the country. The tournament brought together generous supporters, volunteers, MLB baseball players, and people impacted by ALS united around one purpose: leaving ALS better than they found it.

Thanks to the funds raised through the outing, along with a generous anonymous donor, Live Like Lou is expanding its Quality-of-Life grants to even more families throughout Texas and Colorado. These grants help cover expenses such as home modifications, mobility equipment, extracurricular expenses for children, and others costs to help restore dignity and ease the burden ALS places on families.

One of the most powerful moments of the day came from Sara Nauser, whose words reminded everyone why this work matters so deeply. Sara’s message was both powerful and uplifting, shining a light on what courage looks like in real time.

Seeing her roll confidently in her Royals-branded wheelchair, gifted to her during last year’s Lou Gehrig Day celebration, paired with her Live Like Lou gear, was a visual reminder of the strength of this community and the importance of showing up for one another.
The day ended with remarks from Maycee Wilkie, Live Like Lou’s Communications and Marketing Specialist. Maycee shared not only how Live Like Lou supports ALS families nationwide but also her own personal connection to this mission, offering attendees a meaningful glimpse into the heart behind the work.
Live Like Lou extends a special thank you to the Hilliard family for turning their own ALS journey into a commitment to helping others. Their partnership, along with the generosity of tournament participants and supporters, continues to create real, lasting change for ALS families.
It’s collaborations like these that make it possible to expand resources and strengthen the community around those living with ALS. Together, we truly are leaving ALS better than we found it.
