The Live Like Lou Foundation’s invitation-only biennial ALS Research Symposium will take place July 29–31 at Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Hosted by Daniela Zarnescu, PhD, of Penn State College of Medicine, the meeting will welcome more than 100 guests, including early-career ALS researchers, and feature presentations and discussions that promote learning and collaboration.

At Live Like Lou, we believe that attracting and retaining ALS researchers is one of the most critical outcomes of our research investments. Limited funding in the ALS space continues to create bottlenecks, often pushing promising early-career scientists to pursue better-funded areas within neurodegenerative disease research. By supporting emerging ALS researchers at pivotal points in their careers, our programs help sustain a strong pipeline of researchers committed to discovering treatments, and ultimately, a cure for ALS.
Additional symposium programming includes two keynotes, a poster session, abstract presentations, group discussions, an ALS community event, and opportunities to collaborate to advance ALS research. Our 2024 event was held in partnership with Sami Barmada, MD, PhD, at the University of Michigan. Read more about the 2024 meeting.
