Before the Milwaukee Brewers took the field for an ALS awareness game on April 19, Live Like Lou was honored as a featured beneficiary of Christian Yelich's third annual Home Plate Charity Concert. The event included a live auction and musical performances by the Goo Goo Dolls and The Nicotine Dolls. The event raised more than $175,000 in honor of three organizations, Visit Milwaukee, the Brewers Community Foundation, and Live Like Lou.
During the concert, Wendy Faust, Executive Director of Live Like Lou, took the stage to share the organization’s mission and impact, moving the crowd with her remarks and highlighting the continued need for support in the fight against ALS.
The celebration continued two nights later during a Brewers’ ALS awareness game at American Family Field. Live Like Lou, in partnership with Phi Delta Theta and the Permobil Foundation, surprised long-time Brewers fan, Mike Seitz, with a custom Brewers Permobil power wheelchair.
Mike and his wife of 33 years, LeeAnn, reside in Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, and are proud parents to two sons, Aaron and Adam. A devoted Brewers fan, Mike has spent decades making memories with family and friends at games. His favorite travel destination is American Family Fields of Phoenix in Maryvale, Arizona, where he has enjoyed Brewers spring training games over the years.
Before his ALS diagnosis in February 2022, Mike worked in IT at Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork in Wausau for 32 years. A lifelong baseball fan, Mike played the sport throughout his youth and even competed in the 1979 high school championship game with the Spencer Rockets. Mike enjoys his time at the cabin "up north," as well as bowling, fishing, and hunting.
This was the first of several ALS awareness games we have for the season. Check out our events page for more information on Lou Gehrig Day 2025. We would love you to join us as we continue to surprise ALS families and honor MLB players for excellence on and off the field as nominees for Phi Delta Theta's Lou Gehrig Memorial Award.
