As part of its “For the Good of the Team” campaign, the Live Like Lou Foundation has been named the official title sponsor of two major college baseball tournaments. This growing partnership with Peak Events, LLC, provides a powerful platform to raise awareness and support for families living with ALS.
Beginning in 2026, college baseball fans will see Lou Gehrig’s courageous legacy honored in:
Each ticket purchased includes admission to both daily games, and a portion of the proceeds directly supports ALS families in Jacksonville, Las Vegas, and the college communities of the participating teams.
The Jax Classic has seen powerhouse programs like Alabama, Coastal Carolina, NC State, and Ohio State, while the Las Vegas Classic recently featured Texas, Texas Tech, Illinois, and Washington. Both events produced thrilling championship weekends in 2025, setting high expectations for 2026.
Lou Gehrig’s legacy began as a college ballplayer at Columbia University and grew into one of the greatest careers in baseball history. His most selfless act came in 1939, when he benched himself—for the good of the team—just before learning of his ALS diagnosis.
The Live Like Lou Foundation honors Lou's legacy through its title sponsorship of Peak Events’ college baseball tournaments in Jacksonville and Las Vegas. It unites athletes and fans to raise awareness, fuel the fight, and inspire us all to live like Lou.
“Lou Gehrig’s legacy took shape as a college baseball player at Columbia. We’re honored to bring together outstanding college athletes in support of a meaningful cause that makes a lasting impact,” said Wendy Faust, Executive Director of the Live Like Lou Foundation. “By uniting with Peak Events to sponsor the Jax and Las Vegas Classics as part of our For the Good of the Team campaign, we’re celebrating the power of sports to inspire action and uplift families as they face ALS with courage and resilience.”
In Jacksonville, an estimated 150 people are living with ALS. In Las Vegas, the number is approximately 225. Each is surrounded by loved ones who also carry the severe emotional, financial, and physical toll of the disease, with annual care costs often exceeding $200,000. The Foundation already serves dozens of families in both communities through volunteer engagement, Quality-of-Life Grants, and scholarships—and with the For the Good of the Team campaign, it is raising funds to impact even more people living with ALS and their families, for the good of the community and for the good of the team.
The partnership represents the perfect fit for Peak Events: celebrating the sport while honoring one of its greatest legends.
“Partnering with the Live Like Lou Foundation is a perfect fit for Peak Events and these tournaments,” said Nathan Wooldrige, Vice President of Peak Events, LLC. “We work to present the best college baseball experiences in the nation for student-athletes, coaches, and fans. The foundation honors the legacy of one of the game’s best players. Together, we can impact even more families living with ALS.”
