For CrossFit Iliad, The Lou Workout has always been about more than the workout. 💙

For the past three years, CrossFit Iliad has raised more than $15,504 through The Lou. This year, it carries an even deeper meaning as their first Lou Workout without Angie Quandt, who passed away from ALS in August 2026.

Angie, the aunt of CrossFit Iliad owner Zach, was diagnosed with ALS on September 6, 2022. After taking 10 days to gather their thoughts, the Quandt decided the best way forward was through honesty and togetherness.

Marty called all six of their children together that evening. There were tears, shock, and heartbreak, but there was also laughter, storytelling, love, and hope.

Angie was meant to be a mom and grandma and her family knew it. Within a year of that family meeting, two new grandchildren were born, followed by three since then. Angie’s story is a reminder that ALS changes so much, but it cannot take away the love, laughter, and connection that make a family who they are.

That is what The Lou Workout is all about.

The Lou embodies using our physical abilities to honor those living with ALS and those who have had those abilities taken away. This year, we are dedicating The Lou to Angie and to everyone whose life has been impacted by ALS.
